YB Edward Khoo has finally done the right thing but must continue consistently without fears or favours

This is the YB that we wanted for a long time, a people representative to deal with the poor administration of the district council through which people's lives are affected directly.

One question arises as to what has been happening with the performance of those District Councilors appointed, in which MCA has three (3) representatives.

It's common knowledge that some District Councilors were very questionable in their integrity that government enforcement units should keep an eye on them.

I hope that YB Edward Khoo will continue with the search for the truth with more follow-ups, and set the matter straight transparently without any compromise, as this type of cases are reported to be rampant, and out of control.

Some district councilors who are vocals, and insisting on strict penalty on faulters, were reported to have been threatened with harm by some public whose interests were at stake due to the enforcement attempts by the council.

YB Edward, you've done the right thing but making sure that you continue with more follow-ups, without fears or favours, in discharging your duty and responsibility. Keep it up, YB!

What's the link between DAP power struggle, Pakatan dinner, and the presence of a prominent MCA member?

Power struggle in a political organization is considered normal but what's really amazing is the story 'linked' to the presence of MCA prominent member, Datuk John Khoo (J. P.), an elder brother of Datuk Edward Khoo Keok Hai, Assistant Minister of the Chief Minister of Sabah, in a Pakatan dinner organized by DAP where big shots like Lim Kit Siong was also present to grace the function.

But, what's the above news got to do with the presence of Datuk John Khoo (J.P.) who is a member of MCA and an elder brother of Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Edward Khoo Keok Hai, in a DAP organized 'Pakatan' dinner?

Does it mean that Datuk John Khoo is interested in DAP, and was there to know more of DAP, or what?

Datuk John Khoo must have got the consent from the family (or the party he belongs now) before he attended the function, maybe for a reason only known to himself, the family, and the organization he is associated with.

If he were there to 'spy', then he must be the most blatant one sent by BN. Will he eventually join DAP? Will he be a champion for the opposition or as an 'under-cover' for BN, only in the last minute of the general election will we know the truth.

Meanwhile, perhaps, a clarification from both Datuk Edward Khoo and Datuk John Khoo will be more appropriate to clear the speculation.

Is the re-appointment of Datuk Edward Khoo as State Chief going to be a 'make-or-break' decision by Dr. Chua for Sabah MCA?

The Sabah MCA has been under-performing over the last 11 years under Datuk Edward Khoo's leadership.

If he were to be re-appointed as the State Liaison Chairman again, the outlook for Sabah MCA shall be gloomy unless there shall be dramatic change in the leadership style and transformation.

In addition to that, there should be heavy aids from MCA Central in terms of political supports in lobbying for state's governmental posts and positions in Sabah.

The MCA central also has to finance the costs of operations in the divisions on a regular basis like the UMNO Sabah who has been well look after since its entry into the state some 19 years ago.

Another setback for MCA Sabah so far is that the relationship of Sabah MCA with top leaders of BN components in Sabah has been quietly reported to be not up to good level, and the component parties in Sabah has virtually labelled Sabah MCA as 'irrelevant'.

Will Datuk Edward Khoo changed his style of leadership and administration of the state MCA once re-appointed?

Will the grassroots welcome him as the state liaison chief again after all these years of grievances and 'dis-satisfactory' performance?

In conclusion, the new appointment is significant, and is a 'make-or-break' decision by Dr. Chua for Sabah MCA and the MCA as a whole?

Will Ong Ka Chuan a favour leader here in Sabah?

Ka Chuan not going for high party post

Even if he were going for other post in the party, he may not have a good chance to win the votes he wanted from Sabah as he is not known by most Sabahan. The reason being Ong Ka Chuan hardly visits Sabah, and this will definitely a big disadvantage for him to garner any Sabahan votes.

Besides, the Ong's agents in Sabah MCA is not very popular with the local Central Delegates.

This was the main reason that Ong Ka Chua lost to gain Sabah votes during the last part election for his deputy presidency contest in October 18, 2008.

He should pay a visit to Sabah now, and open himself to the Sabahan instead of expecting supports without doing anything.

A point to note that he had not been seen, or reported, to have done anything visibly for Sabahan. This issue is a prime criteria in the selection of leaders amongst all the central delegates from Sabah now. They want leaders who care for Sabah.

Even one of the two local Central Committee members, Datuk Edward Khoo, has to watch his back now as he has not been satisfying the needs of his fellow Sabahan in the last 10 years as the State Liaison Chief.

The leaders in MCA of today, or tomorrow, must address the Sabahan issues seriously, and immediately. They must show their sincerity in helping Sabah MCA to rise to the political arena as they should, instead of the lackadaisical attitude practices in the last 19 years.

The end of Liow's struggle soon?

It's not easy to take no stand in today's politic.

George Bush Jr had demanded the whole world to take a stand on terrorism in 2001 after the 911 incident. He accepted no middle of the road stand because in his simple understanding - if you were not on my side, your were my enemy.

The same is true here in MCA party squabble where Liow and Ong are both fighting out for the so-called 'integrity'. Datuk Edward Khoo was long recognised as the strong Chua Soi Lek's supporter during the Ong Ka Ting's era, the former party president before Ong Tee Keat. He switched allegiance to Ong Ka Ting camp when Chua Soi Lek was 'ousted' by virtue of his resignation of government and party posts right after the sex scandal exploded in late 2007 and January 2008. The scenario changed again after Ong Ka Ting lost miserably in the 308 general election that saw Ong resigning and by not contesting the presidency in the October 2008's party election; instead, he helped 'promoting' Ong Tee Keat for the presidency because of his clean image and record. Chua Soi Lek had no choice but had to contest the deputy presidency, and succeeded over Ong Ka Chuan, the brother of Ong Ka Ting, despite the heavy attacks on his sex scandal affairs.

Chua had stunned the world with his unbelievable victory under such unfavourable circumstances. Ong Tee Keat continued bashing Chua on his sex scandal and refused to cooperate with his deputy for almost a year until Ong's faction decided to sack Chua. The Ong's supporter at the time were mainly Liow, Wee, and Chew. The trio is the 'proxy' of Ong Ka Ting and brother Ka Chuan, or rather, the Ong's dynasty. They went as far as sacking Chua from his position based on the Disciplinary Board's report and the Presidential Council's decision. Chua claimed innocent and unfairly sacked, and he called for an EGM which saw an overwhelming response from the grassroots that he managed to easily garner more than 800 signatures required to call for the meeting. What happened later were all histories.

Liow was simply caught in the fire created by the 'unexpected' outcome of the double10 EGM that he was accused by Ong on the conspiracy of impatiently trying to seize power from him by double-crossing him in the EGM. Ong fought back by not resigning as an obligation to the grassroots, and staying back claiming that he has unfinished business and still has the support of two third of the Central Committee members.

Khoo was not clear with his allegiance with the three leaders - Ong Tee Keat, Liow Tiong Lai, and Chua Soi OLek respectively from 2007 till 2009. It's this vague stand that drew suspicions, and even more suspicions, that eventually no one trusted him.

On the local front, Paul Kong has been eying the State Chairmanship for years, and had lately been helped by Ong Tee Keat based on his enthusiastic and loyal supports right from the time Ong Tee Keat ran for the presidency in October 2008.

Prior to that, Kong had been a close youth leader with Ong Tee Keat years ago. Datuk Paul Kong was awarded with a senatorship during the double10 EGM period with the help of Ong. With Liow is slowly pushed to the corner, Khoo had been trying to find a way out until Liow made a mistake by declaring the 'boycott' action.

Now, Khoo is virtually back in the Ong's camp by virtue of his involvement in the chua's recent visit to Sandakan, and subsequently, Kota Kinabalu before the Chinese new Year. He didn't however said openly that he's ditching Liow, but his action is an equivalent proof of his declaration of allegiance.

Switching to the Ong's camp means joining the 'Greater Unity Plan'(GUP), and in Khoo's situation, he's no choice but to join the GUP for his own political survival as Kong is waiting at the wing to take over without hesitation anytime soon.

There was one politician worth mentioning here is that Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah was reported to have joined the closed door meeting of Sabah State MCA leaders sometimes in January, 2010 where Ong was briefing the local leaders on the status of the party.

Does it ring the bell?

The battle of re-election is over?

Finally, the battle of MCA Sabah over re-election is probably over, now that Datuk Edward Khoo openly disagreed with the liow's latest boycott campaign.

Datuk Khoo's remarks was conveyed to a large groups of divisional leaders, gathered in a famous seafood restaurant in down town Kota Kinabalu, by Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek this evening dinner.

Datuk Seri Dr. Chua arrived here from Sandakan this afternoon.

The dinner cum dialog function is also used by the Deputy President to celebrate the Chinese New Year early with the Sabah grassroots; as well as presenting a briefing on the progress and the status of the party, and the country as a whole.

The groups present were of the Ong's, Chua's, and Liow's faction respectively.

Datuk Seri Dr. Chua was declaring on behalf of Datuk Edward Khoo on his new stand on the boycotting and re-election.

The declaration might trigger the exodus wave in the Liow's faction in the next few days.

There's only one voice now on re-election issue in Sabah, if re-election is really going to be a reality.

What a dramatic change of event considering Datuk Liow was here campaigning in high spirit just a couple of days ago, and the reception was considered cordial and successful.

Unfortunately, boycotting proved to be the fatal point where Datuk Edward Khoo has finally found a good excuse to get out.

The 'lucky' turn of the event shows that he's still relevant and wanted by the leadership despite his past records of instability.

Politic is indeed a game of possibility, and impossibility too; all you need is a good excuse, patience, and the right moment to flip.

'Sabah MCA' Supports Greater Unity Plan (So far)

So far, it looks like the Greater Unity Plan (GUP) has an edge over the 2nd EGM orchastrated by Liow's faction of the party.

With Chau fully supports the GUP with 13 Central Delegates (CD) from his division, the trend of supports is quite obvious then, and the overall likely support for GUP can be around 100 Central Delegates (CD). Sabah has 147 CDs.

Datuk Edward Khoo, the Sandakan Division Chairman cum the State MCA Chairman for almost 10 years, who is known still very much in the Liow's camp, yesterday refused to make comment on his stand openly.

Nevertheless, Penampang Division Head cum State MCA Deputy Chairman, Datuk Paul Kong Sing Chu had earlier declared his stand on 10-Nov-2009 that he urged the three requisisionists to reconsider their decision to proceed with the second EGM, to be held on 28-Nov-2009.

He urged Liow, and the group, to close rank and adopting 'forgive & forget' attitude for the unity of the party.
