The end of Liow's struggle soon?

It's not easy to take no stand in today's politic.

George Bush Jr had demanded the whole world to take a stand on terrorism in 2001 after the 911 incident. He accepted no middle of the road stand because in his simple understanding - if you were not on my side, your were my enemy.

The same is true here in MCA party squabble where Liow and Ong are both fighting out for the so-called 'integrity'. Datuk Edward Khoo was long recognised as the strong Chua Soi Lek's supporter during the Ong Ka Ting's era, the former party president before Ong Tee Keat. He switched allegiance to Ong Ka Ting camp when Chua Soi Lek was 'ousted' by virtue of his resignation of government and party posts right after the sex scandal exploded in late 2007 and January 2008. The scenario changed again after Ong Ka Ting lost miserably in the 308 general election that saw Ong resigning and by not contesting the presidency in the October 2008's party election; instead, he helped 'promoting' Ong Tee Keat for the presidency because of his clean image and record. Chua Soi Lek had no choice but had to contest the deputy presidency, and succeeded over Ong Ka Chuan, the brother of Ong Ka Ting, despite the heavy attacks on his sex scandal affairs.

Chua had stunned the world with his unbelievable victory under such unfavourable circumstances. Ong Tee Keat continued bashing Chua on his sex scandal and refused to cooperate with his deputy for almost a year until Ong's faction decided to sack Chua. The Ong's supporter at the time were mainly Liow, Wee, and Chew. The trio is the 'proxy' of Ong Ka Ting and brother Ka Chuan, or rather, the Ong's dynasty. They went as far as sacking Chua from his position based on the Disciplinary Board's report and the Presidential Council's decision. Chua claimed innocent and unfairly sacked, and he called for an EGM which saw an overwhelming response from the grassroots that he managed to easily garner more than 800 signatures required to call for the meeting. What happened later were all histories.

Liow was simply caught in the fire created by the 'unexpected' outcome of the double10 EGM that he was accused by Ong on the conspiracy of impatiently trying to seize power from him by double-crossing him in the EGM. Ong fought back by not resigning as an obligation to the grassroots, and staying back claiming that he has unfinished business and still has the support of two third of the Central Committee members.

Khoo was not clear with his allegiance with the three leaders - Ong Tee Keat, Liow Tiong Lai, and Chua Soi OLek respectively from 2007 till 2009. It's this vague stand that drew suspicions, and even more suspicions, that eventually no one trusted him.

On the local front, Paul Kong has been eying the State Chairmanship for years, and had lately been helped by Ong Tee Keat based on his enthusiastic and loyal supports right from the time Ong Tee Keat ran for the presidency in October 2008.

Prior to that, Kong had been a close youth leader with Ong Tee Keat years ago. Datuk Paul Kong was awarded with a senatorship during the double10 EGM period with the help of Ong. With Liow is slowly pushed to the corner, Khoo had been trying to find a way out until Liow made a mistake by declaring the 'boycott' action.

Now, Khoo is virtually back in the Ong's camp by virtue of his involvement in the chua's recent visit to Sandakan, and subsequently, Kota Kinabalu before the Chinese new Year. He didn't however said openly that he's ditching Liow, but his action is an equivalent proof of his declaration of allegiance.

Switching to the Ong's camp means joining the 'Greater Unity Plan'(GUP), and in Khoo's situation, he's no choice but to join the GUP for his own political survival as Kong is waiting at the wing to take over without hesitation anytime soon.

There was one politician worth mentioning here is that Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah was reported to have joined the closed door meeting of Sabah State MCA leaders sometimes in January, 2010 where Ong was briefing the local leaders on the status of the party.

Does it ring the bell?

The battle of re-election is over?

Finally, the battle of MCA Sabah over re-election is probably over, now that Datuk Edward Khoo openly disagreed with the liow's latest boycott campaign.

Datuk Khoo's remarks was conveyed to a large groups of divisional leaders, gathered in a famous seafood restaurant in down town Kota Kinabalu, by
Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek this evening dinner.

Datuk Seri Dr. Chua arrived here from Sandakan this afternoon.

The dinner cum dialog function is also used by the Deputy President to celebrate the Chinese New Year early with the Sabah grassroots; as well as presenting a briefing on the progress and the status of the party, and the country as a whole.

The groups present were of the Ong's, Chua's, and Liow's faction respectively.

Datuk Seri Dr. Chua was declaring on behalf of Datuk Edward Khoo on his new stand on the boycotting and re-election.

The declaration might trigger the exodus wave in the Liow's faction in the next few days.

There's only one voice now on re-election issue in Sabah, if re-election is really going to be a reality.

What a dramatic change of event considering Datuk Liow was here campaigning in high spirit just a couple of days ago, and the reception was considered cordial and successful.

Unfortunately, boycotting proved to be the fatal point where Datuk Edward Khoo has finally found a good excuse to get out.

The 'lucky' turn of the event shows that he's still relevant and wanted by the leadership despite his past records of instability.

Politic is indeed a game of possibility, and impossibility too; all you need is a good excuse, patience, and the right moment to flip.

PM Najib said it all. Are we all listening?

PM Najib said it all, but, are we all listening?

BN is worried about the MCA crisis and its subsequent negative effects; but not to the Chinese community and the opposition (PR).

In fact, the opposition (PR) just likes to see it that way.

The Chinese community has already made their choice in some parts of the country, but it's not really their preferred choice. It was only a tactical move to vote the opposition (PR) in order to pressurise the BN. Their tactical choice has yet to be delivered based on the last election promises by their elected YBs, be it from the BN or PR.

The opposition (PR), like DAP and PKR, have been listening well to the people's needs but may now have difficulty to deliver what people wanted physically. The opposition (PR) in some BN's territories can only achieve the lip service, however, their shortfall is well understood and accepted by the people; the question is: how long can they tolerate the non-performance of the opposition?

On the contrary, the governing party (BN), like UMNO or MCA, must fulfill its last election promises, or else, it will be branded as liar.

The current heated argument between Ong and Liow faction is obviously irrelevant to what people needed. They don't really care much about the 'morality' issues raised by the respective leaders, or for that matter, their internal problems. People will not take the so-called 'morality' issues as their priority concern; what they are more interested in is who can deliver and making their life easier, and better, at the end of the day.

The current turmoil is simply a matter of internal struggle of power where the priority of the people has been disregarded, and somewhat being used to garner for legitimacy on the staging of the 2nd EGM.

The Greater Unity Plan (GUP) is a plan to unite all the factions, including those who claim that they are marginalised by the plan. The grassroots are now leaving it to the various leaders to show their wisdom in making the GUP working. Their sincerity and willingness to settle their differences are all key factors in making the unity plan a reality, meaningful, and success.

The involvement of PM in this plan will definitely speed up the process and eliminates distrusts created in the last few weeks.

To all MCA leaders, please take heed of the PM's words, and stop all these nonsense before we lost the preference status that we used to enjoy with the Chinese community.

By the way, the party election is two more years away.

One Malaysian, One Malaysia?

MCA backs Najib’s ‘One Malaysia’ concept

(refer to http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/3/16/nation/3487677&sec=nation)

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA supports Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s “One Malaysia” concept in governing the country where policies made will benefit all Malaysians.

Its vice-president, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, said Najib had assured the people that fairness would be dealt out and decisions made by the Government would not favour any one group.

Malaysia must unite and work together with policies that look after the interests of all races,” Liow told a press conference at Cheras Leisure Mall here yesterday.

==================================================================

I read with great excitement about the "policy" that might be materialized when Najib takes over the helm from Ahmad Badawi Abdullah.

It'll definitely "unbelievable" when we still see open "discriminative attitudes and policies" being practiced by the "government" and the "Management" where both arms of the authority are practicing "double standards" bluntly. The result of the last general election prompted the BN to vow for a "reform" or even "transformation", however, we have yet to see it being made true.

It's said that the main cause of Malaysia's problems is "the division of people by their ethnicity and religion". The feelings of inequality and unfairness are widely felt by the people, especially the "non-bumiputras".

The foremost policy under heavy criticisms is the NEP.

The Lack of Opportunity in the civil services and education are the other sources of discontent by the non-bumiputra group. The dominant group lacks of true sense of respect and "dominant" mentality is also the resentment behind the sources of discomfort among the people.

One can say that the scenario is like happiness of some peoples is built from the miseries of the others. However, no one will admit the "bullying" unfair practice despite 52 years of independence, or 46 years for Sabah & Sarawak.

“One Malaysia” to me means Malaysia has only one "progressive race" - Malaysian; the eventual culture is Malaysian made up of various cultures through natural integration; people still identifiable by their community but thinking 100% Malaysian, and equality for all regardless of descendent and creed. It also means no more "bumiputra" and "non-bumiputra" status.

Can it be a reality, or being just a dream of Najib? Is he sincere in this matter? Can he make it? Can the so-called dominant group accept the changes and sacrifices?

Chinese and Indians had been sacrificing a lot in the last 52 years for the noble effort to bring close the "gap"; isn't it time to just being fair by "righting" it?

Is Malaysia still prefers to be a divisive and weak country, or one strong country like "One Malaysia" as coined by Najib?
