DAP is not only aiming to become the replacement for MCA & Gerakan  but also the local Chinese/EM non-muslim Native-based parties in Sabah & Sarawak, namely PBS, UPKO, LDP, SAPP, PBRS, SUPP, SNAP, STAR..etc in the coming election.

People are pushing DAP higher than they ever had but will they able to sustain and convince the opposition parties to rally behind them, remains the crucial question. DAP must take note that in Sabah & Sarawak, the people in the region have the unfinished matter to settle first, that is the fulfillment of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, and the subsequent woes going with it.

DAP, being West Malaysia-based, has disadvantageous to champion for the East Malaysian on this long overdue critical issue which currently BN government is now feverishly trying to resolve.

Misunderstanding and lack of knowledge of the true history of East Malaysian states in Malaysia is the main problem facing all the West Malaysian notably political parties from there.

Are local BN parties at par with their Semenanjung counterparts, and, should Sabah BN has different set of protocol to follow?

I wonder if the position of a local BN party is truly at par with the national BN party. I refer to the Daily Express report today:-

http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=74657

If the statement of PM Najib has been taken heed, or respected, by the respective and relevant BN component party, then this statement of 'advice' or 'appeal' in the open should not have been raised in the newspaper; instead it should be appropriately presented in the follow-up BN internal discussions and meetings, maybe more appropriately at the BN national level now.

Why do you need a Youth Head of Sabah BN to do this if there's already sincerity within the Sabah BN or BN to resolve the crisis amicably and peacefully?

The action of the Sabah BN Youth is also seen as protocol-wise not appropriate since they could simply write in to the BN office seeking for the clarifications or conveying their views within the BN discussion of the subject, instead of telling the whole world.

It's also interesting to know if the view of this so-called Sabah BN Youth Chief included the view of the LDP Youth too? Had the Sabah BN Youth held any meeting in deriving this stand?

There shall be some basic respect with regard to this matter. Datuk VK Liew, the Party Chief of LDP,  by right should be talking to PM Najib who is the National BN Chief on any BN matters, and the Youth Head seems to have ignorant on this basic manner. Even if he has to raise the matter, it can only be done internally within the BN channel, and no others.

It's high time that Sabah BN observes the basic protocol as the Sabah BN has many of its components who are locally based, and the membership of these respective leaders are of the national status level. So they are both respectable locally, and nationally, and should be respected accordingly within the BN hierarchy.

Nevertheless, 'ketuanan' attitude must not be prevail in Sabah soil; and Sabah BN must unite at all levels regardless of rank and file if they want to ward off the oncoming Tsunami of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in Sabah soon.

PM Must Address The Local Sentiments First

http://www.asiatimes.com.my/news.php?newsid=26066

Apart from LDP, SAPP is another political party openly opposing the adoption of coal-fired power plant in Sabah.

The difference between the two parties over the power issue is that LDP is in the government and SAPP is an independent opposition party now on its own.

PM had come and left with doubts whether Federal government is sincere in resolving the pressing problems in Sabah.

The rejection of coal-fired power plant project in any part of Sabah is purely a clear demonstration of high awareness of the Sabahan on environmental issues, and not so much of political.

The proposal to build a coal-fired power plant in Lahad Datu, Sabah, had never been a popular idea since its infamous damages caused to the residents and its surroundings have been unfavourably known all over.

For a state focusing on eco-tourism, the introduction of the coal-fired power plant means a threat to the industry and the state future income. General consensus is that a pristine environment is the key ingredient in the continuation of eco-tourism. There have been several verbal guarantees undertaking by various VIPs on the security and safety of the coal-fired power plant. How good are these guarantees?

The regional sentiment is high in this part of the world due largely caused by the unbalanced status of developments in the past 46 years. PM has a lot to catch up especially on how to eliminate the unjust feelings now felt generally in Sabah.

The vocal appeals over various local issues from LDP via its women and youth wings shows that people are more vocal and getting more proactively involved in the administration of the public affairs.

The sentiments against the central government, especially in the urban area, are high because promised projects are not forthcoming to ease the hardship of the people, or somewhat too slow to act, and like the QEH affairs, there is simply no significant progress on the improvement of hospital services ever since the main tower block was declared unsafe in November, 2008.

LDP and PBS

LDP regrets views on PR for M'sians painted wrongly
http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=67609

I think the LDP proposal is very appropriate as it's a fair attitude and policy in response to the contribution of fellow Malaysians from Sarawak and peninsula Malaysia.

It was the President, Datuk Joseph Pairin, fired the first shot by misleading the other components of BN as well as Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Datuk Joseph Pairin accused the statement of Deputy President of LDP, Datuk Chin Su Phin, as giving away the sacred rights of Sabah people.

Following protest from PBS, there were
Gerakan, PKR, SAPP who jumped aimlessly on saying that the state rights will be eroded should the law governing on this immigration control is abolished.

They have all been misled to believe that the LDP wanted to abolish the immigration law governing the granting of Permanent Residence (PR) to all Malaysians from other states, automatically.

It was like a concerted effort by these various parties to stir up, and confused the matter so that LDP is projected as a party not having the Sabahan at heart.

PBS has lately been labelled as a despicable party which has been engaging in very unhealthy tactics and strategy. Their style is albeit somewhat unethical and totally unbecoming to live with. They have been doing it in order to amass more political appointments, and subsequently more influences.

The way they achieve it was 'simply agreed' or 'supported' to anything the higher up wanted regardless of the political matter in question. For example, the Maju case in Kudat is a typical case of 'hurting' fellow component of BN by stabbing, and stepping on its partner's misfortune.

The proposed Khidmat hospital is another blatant, and blind loyalty support for the higher up regardless of whether the project is viable or not.

During its reign in the 80's, it virtually had done 'nothing' for Sabah, notably the Queen Elizabeth hospital would not be in its status today if the then PBS government worked closely with the central government.

By the time BN regained Sabah politic, it chose to remain 'silent' in order to 'heal' its 'wound' and 'regaining' trust from the higher up.

This strategy was somewhat effective in the present political structure and style of governance, as far as PBS is concerned.

However, since May 2009, the LDP and PBS has become intense rival in their quest for more political interests ever since the withdrawal of SAPP from BN in March 2009.

From YB Raymond New Home To New Cabinet Appointments

YB Raymond Tan and YB Au Kam Wah finally announced joining Gerakan.

Raymond told the press that he'd found a proper home for his followers and himself. He cited that many parties had been offering "shelter" but eventually he preferred Gerakan where he feels much “comfortable”, unlike some parties such as the Sabah MCA and LDP which had not been “friendly” to him.

It's all started with the incredible bond between him (Raymond) and the CM that the latter went all out to keep him from being pushed out (marginalized) by other components in the BN. Intense internal rivalry among all the components in the BN is not uncommon phenomenon.

The centre of the argument started with the issue of true representation of the Chinese Community in the Sabah BN where Raymond had not been an active (or hardly known) politician with the Chinese community was doubted as the appropriate leader for the purpose.

This irked every body in the BN especially LDP and MCA respectively.

He was appointed as DCM (for the Chinese "quota") because he was the highest echelon leader available of the then SAPP which enjoyed enormous supports from the Chinese Community.

Yong Tet Lee, the popular Chinese leader and the President of SAPP, had just finished his 5 years political “prison” sentence, was again left out of the race during the last general election. It was noted that Yong was somehow “barred” from the active politic role due to certain forces in the Sabah BN.

Otherwise we could have seen Yong to become the rightful DCM instead of Raymond, and of course he needs pre-blessing from the CM of the day in order to achieve this.

The pull out of SAPP on September 17, 2008 was the turning point where State Assembly Members from SAPP, Raymond and Au, chose to stay party-less but pro-BN.

Despite all the rumours and speculations, Raymond continued enjoy undivided supports from CM and kept his DCM and Works Minister portfolio for almost 8 months.

Now that he’d found a home in BN, Raymond should now do the honourable thing by resigning immediately all his cabinet posts, the DCM & Work Minister posts respectively in order for CM to re-arrange his cabinet as necessary.

It's a matter of procedure and a respect of procedure, discipline, integrity, and professionalism. This is because he should also be seen respecting his own new party by doing so.

He should not worry that the CM won’t appoint him any portfolio as he must have the skills that CM can hardly do without by judging on the record in the last 8 months.

Perhaps CM could consider the following appointments that should make every body happy and united:-

  1. YB Raymond remains as Work Minister;
  2. YB Edward Khoo from MCA promoted as DCM and a Finance Minister post;
  3. YB Teo of LDP as Deputy Finance Minister

I think it's high time that CM concentrates on the central role of leading the state by going more frequently to the grass root levels that he may not have times to look after all the affairs (People First, Performance Now!); the delegation of the financial portfolio to MCA is most appropriate as MCA is the second largest components of BN in federal level and has been contributing a lot in the BN ruling in Sabah since 1994.

With the introduction of 1Malaysia, I think the “racial quota” on the DCM posts in the Sabah state cabinet line up may deem to be meaningless or unnecessary if we truly want to implement the 1Malaysia concept from the new PM seriously.
