DAP is not only aiming to become the replacement for MCA & Gerakan  but also the local Chinese/EM non-muslim Native-based parties in Sabah & Sarawak, namely PBS, UPKO, LDP, SAPP, PBRS, SUPP, SNAP, STAR..etc in the coming election.

People are pushing DAP higher than they ever had but will they able to sustain and convince the opposition parties to rally behind them, remains the crucial question. DAP must take note that in Sabah & Sarawak, the people in the region have the unfinished matter to settle first, that is the fulfillment of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, and the subsequent woes going with it.

DAP, being West Malaysia-based, has disadvantageous to champion for the East Malaysian on this long overdue critical issue which currently BN government is now feverishly trying to resolve.

Misunderstanding and lack of knowledge of the true history of East Malaysian states in Malaysia is the main problem facing all the West Malaysian notably political parties from there.

What a combination! An Ignorant of the real situation plus naivity in policy formulation & implementation?

The protest is justifiable, and rightly so, as this type of similar situation has been frequently happening, and woes eventually disregarded, and ignored.

Time to wake up for the federal departments, and its agencies, as people are getting more aware of their rights, and as long as the officials are carrying out their works with sensitivity, professionalism, and sincerity; their contributions would surely be appreciated, and respected, by the locals.

The federal must progress with time in terms of competency, and efficiency, too.

BN must rectify the medical woes in Sabah first before re-seeking new mandate from the people

Sabah people had had high expectation of Malaysia when it was formed 48 years ago, this negative report of the condition at Labuan hospital from the mouth of its MP is alarming and definitely will damage the credibility of the federal government especially the BN.

Health Minister Datuk Liow shouldn't be taking it lightly as the medical health services has been an ongoing and very hot issue in Sabah. The BN shouldn't give the opposition the chance to raise this matter even if this is a nationwide dilemma of the authority.

East Malaysia states especially Sabah must be given highest priority in addressing all the medical service problems as the condition in the top Sabahan hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), is embarrassingly unbearable and unacceptable.

The rectification process in 're-instating' the hospital has been too slow going that people are beginning to wonder if the government really had the sincerity in resolving the various  issues.

One thing regrettable is that the hospital has so far not been visited by the Prime Minister himself amidst of the 'controversy' when he visited Kota Kinabalu several times for the Meet-The-People Walk-about activity.

Had he been to the wards of the QEH and its internal areas, he might have had a different idea on his mind when he got home to Putra Jaya.

Even though Sabah is a fixed Deposit of BN and the federal government but the situation of the medical services remains an unbelievable mystery to the Sabah people and the rest of the world.

The QEH needs some changes on its  administration and management in order to have any slightest hope of a turn-around.

Sabah state government must quickly take over the responsibility by setting up its own Medical Health Department or Committee to ensure the performance of the Health Services in Sabah is acceptable and within the United Nation's standard of quality service.

BN must rectify all the medical woes in Sabah first before re-seeking new mandate from the people.

It's the priority on governance, and not the originality of 1Malaysia

http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsgeneral.php?id=551552

PM Najib shouldn't be too concerning on the originality of the 1Malaysia concept, what's important to us as citizen is that we want good governance. A government that can unite all the people of Malaysia under a fair & just policies of governance, caring for our welfare, and deliver what a good government should.

I'm still not quite understand the rational behind all these fuss from the opposition about the originality of the campaign except that it's about the so-called Zionist Israel.

On foreigner to be involved in the civil service (or governance?), I hope that we will not be too liberated to allow foreigner to become our Prime Minister in the near future. It's not impossible if the Sabahan PTI is not resolved, by then technically some of these PTIs become Malaysian, they are eligible to run for the UMNO presidency. I hope embracing the PTI into Malaysian is not part of the 1Malaysia plan and spirit.

The day will come when UMNO leaders keep saying publicly the word 'Malaysian' than the word 'Malay'. UMNO leadership shall be the deciding factor in the direction of future Malaysia.

The fact that the 1malaysia created by the so-called consultant merely a coincidence that Israel had something similar years ago. There's nothing wrong to copy the idea and concept so long as it's beneficial to us and without the legal liabilities and violation of international laws.

If BN government could really carry out the 1Malaysia in reality, and successfully, then the next Nobel prize winner may be our PM Najib.

Just wait and see.

Sabahan gave up their rights voluntarily over the years

The gist of the news:-
The lost of some of the 20-points rights such as religion and language, was largely due to our own doing in previous years through our voluntarily given up the rights, and he said that we deserve it because we gave them up ourselves.

He said Sarawak used to follow us politically but now any more now as they are more developed and better off than Sabah. On who agreed first on 5% oil royalty, he said that he's not sure but he disclosed that he knew Tun Maustapha asked for 30%, then after Berjaya came to power Tun Fuad asked for 20%, and after the 66 air crash disaster, it was then said to have been agreed to 5%. Who was the witness of the signing of agreement for 5% oil royalty needless for him to disclose he said.

He said the agreement was inked, and nothing much Sabahan can do now even if they could overthrown the BN government; he said, unless we could get two third majority in parliament, and he thinks, people know what to do comes next general election.

Federal kept saying to Tun Mustapha in those day that they (federal) had no money to build the new airport in KK and new RTM building for Sabah; so Sabahan had to come up with own money which at the time was largely derived from timber export.

In those days, Sabahan was recognized as 'timber King' when in KL, but now viewed as coming to 'beg' for projects without giving respect to the dignity of Sabahan, whenever West Malaysian heard of Sabahan coming to semenanjung.

He said it's very unfair that Sabah has no shares in Petronas and Sabah stands to lose forever once oil runs out in Sabah.

He advised some of the local politicians not to criticizing the presence of 'illegals' too much now if they want their votes in coming election since they are now already citizens and have become voters.

He also advised local politicians to be a Sabahan politician and not gaining their votes racially, citing his attitude as 'he loves Malaysia, but he loves Sabah more'.

He blamed the inroad of UMNO to Sabah in the 90s was largely due to PBS failed to honour an agreement with the then USNO; it was meant to teach PBS a lesson.

Speedy approval from federal government will help the Sabah people most

The Tamparuli-Ranau road is an important road stretch linking Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan & Tawau in the east coast of Sabah.

Its economical value to the people of Sabah is simply difficult to quantify but based on layman observation, it's simply a critical part of the road link between the west and the east coast of Sabah.

The invisible loss due to the cave-in can not be assessed but believed to be fairly substantial; however, the by-pass road is no match to the main road quality which has been causing some delays and discomforts to the road users.

Sabah has the highest poverty rate, a good road will reduce their costs of doing business and daily life; the prompt action of the authority, in this case, the federal government, will have significant effect on the people of Sabah.

RM600,000 was reported to be needed for the repairing, and I hope that the PM Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, will without hesitation, sign the approval for its immediate repair.

People of Sabah will no doubt appreciate the efficiency and good attitude from the good administration of the country in return.

What worry me if Sabah state under new administration?

I'm worry about the competency of our future leaders in managing the state. He/she has to be well educated, knowledgeable, experience, and progressive; some one like the Lee Kuan Yew's quality. They must be of high integrity and patriotic toward the region. We don't want to see the state turned into chaos after the election without proper line-up of leaders to manage the state. We can't afford to have another disappointment again, and we really can't afford it any more. No more administration under green hone, and inexperience hand.

PBS had its chance in 1985-1994 but failed miserably with its appalling performance and Ketuanan Kadazan. Disunity caused by Selfishness, overly self-confidence, and arrogance was the lesson learned for PBS. What a pity for the KDM and the people of Sabah then.

Now that Sabah political scenario has changed tremendously and if regionalism has its way largely due to BN's failure to address the regional sentiment and their own incompetency, Sabahan must be prepared to manage the state all by itself as semenanjung might be split into many parts after that.

Lack of confidence is now a virus spreading fast through the air.

This government friend of mine, who is seeking simple dental service, really made me more convinced that the federal government with its health ministry must work aggressively now to regain their confidence in Public Health Services in Sabah, especially Kota Kinabalu, that they simply said that they have no confidence.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital can be a turning point for the Federal Medical Services in Sabah if the government really gets on with the re-construction program with bold decision.

Lack of confidence is now a virus spreading fast through the air.

Worker shortage in Sabah

The Borneo Post / 2-July-2010

We should welcome the pending policy change in order to meet the challenge of worker shortage in various sectors of the industries in the state.

The main reason is low pay across the whole spectrum of the work forces in Sabah, including degree graduates and other professional category workers.

A large proportion of our youngsters are now currently working in Semenanjung and Singapore, and the reason is quite obvious.

Worker shortage is detrimental to the growth of our economy in Sabah.

How are we going to implement all the various projects and plans as outlined in the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) with the limited human resources and the foreigners?

What's the point of having the huge sum of federal funds in the state but without the workforce to implement, and benefiting only the foreigner most?

If we were to engage the foreigner to do it, it's not really in line with the objective of creating job opportunity for the locals, and the acquisition of skills along wit it.

Yet, we can't wait for the locals to implement it.

We need the various infrastructures now for our future growth.

The outflow of money abroad is expected if engaging foreigner to get things done and maintained in the state. It may turn out to be more problematic later, especially on the social and security issues.

However, it'll be regrettable for the Sabahan not to fully capitalized the opportunity to implement the 10MP in a feverish way as the fund will be taken back and used elsewhere of the country if not finished within the period.

It's therefore crucial that the government to address the worker shortage issue with the highest urgency and carefulness.

On the other hand if we couldn't take up the full challenge of the 10MP allocated for us, maybe the money be best kept with the federal coffer until we need it.

What should be included in the New Economic Model (NEM)?

NEM needs a mindset change/shift in Malaysian especially the bumiputra in order to succeed.

The new mindset is that the country has to adopt meritocracy as a standard guideline, and that means everyone in the land has an equal chance to be successful in a fair and just political and business environments.

There should be no more preferred Malaysian, and all Malaysian are the preferred Malaysian regardless of their ethnicity.

Some one cleverly created the Bumiputra and non-bumiputra status in the early 1970 in order to divide the people wider and deeper.

Can the existing created 'bumiputra' Malaysian accepting this present ecology?

Bumiputra should be a history word of the past and will be discard completely in Malaysia, now! If government wants to transform the country to a new era of high-income state within 10 years period, this is a big challenge confront the bumiputra.

In Sabah, we have been demonstrating the 1Malaysian way of life, and Sabahan are getting further away from its semenanjung counterpart in this aspect of racial harmony, and togetherness.

Today, we don't just lose the brains daily, but are losing labours resources as well. This is serious matter as even Indonesian are not coming to Malaysia as their country can now offer much higher, if not at par, better deal than the Malaysian salary/wage offer.

We are now exporting our local laborers as well as brains to the outside world.

There are 350,000 professionals migrated in the last 18 months as reported in the new papers.

How to turn the situation around needs a lot of acrobatic skill, but one thing for sure, government must not continue to experiment on the education aspect of the country as it's strategically important in the quest for value-chain, and must not be messed around anymore.

Why not PM Najib adopting the 'Blue Ocean Strategy' by appointing only the competent Malaysian to lead the finance and education ministry respectively for a change without the rigidity of the outdated racial consideration?

Is this the positive way to resolve the implementation woes?

Yes, it's a very encouraging sign that the state government engages with the federal ministry, in this case, the Prime Minister ministry, on the various problems in the implementation of federal-funded projects in Sabah.

Rather than leaving it to take its natural cause; the state government led by Datuk Musa had taken the initiative aggressively to arrange a dialogue with the man-in-charge, the formally Second Finance Minister himself and now the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department , Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, to iron out all the woes, problems, and other related issues in Sabah, hopefully all at once, at the Le Meridien hotel here on January 16, 2010.

It's frequently known that federal fund had not been used up by year end in Sabah due to 'technical' problems, and the most heard of is the last-minute allocation of fund to Sabah that is impossible to implement in time for the account closing, or, fund allocated in the beginning of the year but was not able to use it because of 'difficulties' in getting the tender awarded.

Most of the problems lies with too much politicking involved in 'lobbying' for the project through the various politicians who have been eying the fund for their supporters.

The end results of the projects are meant for the benefits of the people, the sooner that it implemented, the better for the economy and the territory. Therefore, any attempts by these politicians to cause delay in the commencement of projects due to the 'fighting' should be condemned and if necessary, MACC should be called-in to investigate if it becomes rampant and unacceptable.

It's the duty of the government to monitor their respective political workers or leaders to refrain from hurting the interests of the people as they and their family too are from the people.

They are supposed to help the people, and not helping themselves. Their negative actions shall undermine the public confidence in the government if people's needs are not fulfilled in time.

On this part, I think federal government should strengthening their officers with high morality, discipline, and integrity through the BTN (Biro Tata Negera) training sessions while politicians must be instilled with patriotism and professionalism, if we want to see things improved.

It's fine with direct negotiated so-called 'special tender' or 'urgent case tender', and that political-link contractors are engaged to do these 'special' projects provided their tender is negotiated on the basis of competitiveness, and competency on reputable in delivery with quality. It should, however, keep the award of this type to the minimal to avoid allegation of abuse of fund and bad planning. The direct negotiated award should be used for cases which are related to say, natural disasters, and unforeseen circumstances and needs such as Queen Elizabeth Hospital case in Sabah.

The government should never award any 'special tenders or projects' to the so-called 'ali baba' companies as the action is not fair to those genuinely in the trade, and will cause long-term detrimental damages to the industry, and the economy as a whole.

It's all because of bad precedent set in the country of giving project directly without going through appropriate tendering procedure and merit that had misled most politicians of wrongly believe in the miracle of getting something out of 'nothing'.

This, together with the close monitoring and follow-up on the projects to be implemented in Sabah, the state government ought to be working extra hard making sure that acquisition of lands are not a hindrance in the project implementation process as there have been cited quite frequently that projects partially finished, or delayed, due to some disputes in the land matter.

However, Datuk Musa specifically singled out the bureaucracy in these government ministries, namely: Health, Education, and Public Works, that have been the causes of our woes in Sabah. I hope that the various Ministers should work harder with their respective Secretary Generals on removing these obstacles, and emphasising the importance of streamlining the process so that Sabah, a far away poor state, could progress well and subsequently remain a sustainable fixed deposit for BN in times to come.

Autonomy For Sabah and Sarawak PKR

It's the right move for PKR Sabah and Sarawak in view of the geographical distance between East & West Malaysia, and also the indifference in the social fabric, cultures, and political landscapes between the two regions of Malaysia.

The localized party shall be more efficient in handling the local issues, and sentiments;
it will definitely increase its local influence and making its presence in Sabah & Sarawak more relevant.

I think MCA Central should adopt the same strategy for the sake of survival in the very much different and competitive political scenery of Sabah.

Now, Sabah Can Not Blame KL For Negligence

Sabah now has 4 Ministers and 5 Deputy Ministers.

It's the most incredible achievement in the history of Sabah.

Sabah has been complaining for lacking federal cares in its affairs, such as health, social, education, basic infrastructure etc., in the past due largely not having enough representation in the cabinet.

Sabahan have been misconstrued as incompetent in governing the state previously.

With 9 out of 25 MPs now in the cabinet or Ministries, Sabahan should now have the golden opportunity to manage and administer the country instead of grousing not given the chance to be a part of the central role in the nation building.

Now, it's time to work, not just for Sabah, but also for the entire nation.

However, these Sabahan from Barisan Nasional are now expected to perform "miracle" in a critical 4 years for the country, especially more so for the BN coalition, where immense difficult economic situation is a major challenge.

Will they be able to deliver the performance that the rakyat expected in a short time of 4 years?

Will they be able to contribute towards the goal of "One Malaysia, People First, and Performance Now" as federal ministers?

PM Najib obviously has all the confidence in the Sabahan to deliver based on the same fantastic result they delivered in the last general election, in particular the outstanding performance in the UMNO party election just concluded.

The shift to make more East Malaysian in the responsible position is an immediate implementation of the One Malaysia concept delivered in PM Najib’s speech after his swearing in as PM. “No One Is to be Left Behind in One Malaysia” He said.

The move also meant to balance the imbalanced in the past.

The appointment of more Sabah & Sarawak MPs from holding important portfolio also means every ones in the country are to be mobilized and united in order to take on the change that the country badly needs.

Let's hope that the new forces from the eastern region of Malaysia can significantly help to transform the nation successfully under PM Najib.

Note: Sarawak has 2 Ministers and 9 Deputy Minister in the Federal Cabinet and Ministry.

Sabah Or Sarawak?

After reading the news put up by Bernama and The Star Online, I start to wonder why they keep making the same mistake on Sabah and Sarawak.

I'm referring to the following piece of news today:-

Title: Body of third Sabah landslide victim found
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/1/26/nation/20090126110539&sec=nation

It should have been "Sarawak" rather than "Sabah" as Limbang is within the territory of Sarawak and not Sabah.

The editor in Bernama should be more careful in his/her editorial works.

Maybe that's the result of years of ignorence and one of the indications of Sabah being left-out in the nation building?

CCTV State

"Prevention is better than cure", as they said. When it comes to crime prevention, nothing is better than the state-of-the-art Closed-circuit television (CCTV), apart from good policing.

You can say the developed countries in Europe and America are becoming paranoids to terrorist attacks since the historical 911 in New York. The London bombing on 7 July 2005 saw the terrorists successfully captured and sentenced with all the evidences, thanks to the CCTV. In a country like United kingdom (U.K.) where it’s the land of laws & orders, the deployment of CCTV has shown to be the most appropriate tool and aligning well with the policy of combating terrorism at its nib.

CCTVs are installed everywhere, public or private, day or night, watching and recording the activities of the residents in the U. K. The coverage is not on fixed properties only; the moving assets like buses, trains, tubes, and even taxis are installed and monitored on-line via wireless linkages. Taxi drivers in Sabah may welcome this as it could protect them from robbers.

The authority is so serious and confident about the technology that they have had deployed the gadgets almost any possible areas in the public; criminals and would-be offenders are virtually not having any chance to get away from crimes or offends without apprehended and prosecuted.

What a way to make the residents behaved, and reducing damages to public properties which I think will especially suitable in Malaysia where peoples are not seen or recorded when deliberately causing damages, and therefore not being nabbed and made to pay for their actions.

We have many crime cases not solved for years and quite often there were no traces and clues at the crime scenes or related scenes; and with the CCTV widely installed, clues and traces of information could have been left at the incidence. It’s therefore not difficult to pin down the culprits in the shortest time before all the evidences are lost.

The London Bombing is a typical success story of the application of CCTV system. DBKK, district Councils, or Government should aggressively invest in the application of CCTV as a means to protect not only lives, but public assets on a long term basis as well. The saving on less infrastructure damages may recover easily the investment costs within the first year or so.

Security is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. By the way, do we have the political will strong enough to do it?
