Dinner with The President of MCA

The state delegates were treated with a dinner by the president of MCA, Datuk Sri Chua Soi Lek, at Ocean Seafood Restaurant, in Kota Kinabalu, just two hours ago, prior to the state AGM which is scheduled tomorrow. In his advice to the dele
gates, he said that he just wanted one thing from the members of MCA, that is Party Unity, in order for the party to win in all the constituencies it represents. Party in-fighting would erode public supports, and definitely bad for all in the party, whether one is in the mainstream or not, he said. He said, DAP is a party for tainted leaders to recycle themselves as whoever supports the DAP are now no more bad leaders once become their allies, and interestingly, these recycled leaders were previously highly condemned by them. He said MCA is always in disadvantageous as it doesn't know how to hoodwinked the public.

You say Yes, I say No

Dr Chua wants MCA reps to be more vocal in Parliament, state assembly

BY TEH ENG HOCK

Yes, the elected YBs should, and must, speak up for what they have been doing in their jobs and roles, and in particular, on the woes of the people regardless if the matters concerning their higher ups, comrades or not, and BN or MCA. There's a hidden fear amongst all the elected YBs, or ministers, that they fear of losing their benefits and futures by being blunt and bold, so they choose the smarter way of keeping mum on the higher ups, and place the people as second place. Having said that, some local MCA members in Sabah who have been highlighting the various woes of the people in Sabah is reported to have received negative remarks from the supporters of certain ministers from the party. It may be coincident that these supporters of the Sabah MCA are not originally Sabahan and therefore may not be able to understand the strong feelings of the locals over certain issues affecting the state . People are now generally more knowledgeable about politic, and even very much aware of the inner workings of political and governmental systems, therefore it's high time that these politicians who have the chances to serve the people to adapt and perform with their bests as the 2nd chances of being re-appointed is likely to be very slim, based on past records.

4t round for Chua Soi Lek in 2011?

New published in OCDN / 8-8-2010 referred.

The news clip carry this message, in a gist as follows:-
President Chua reminds MCA members to refrain from the continuous infighting which now causes negative public confidence in the party that MCA will eventually have to face the consequence of closing its shop.

Good in infighting but poor in fighting against outside opponents will destroy the party. Don't let 1 or 2 persons or a small group to cause splits within the party, and it's not right for a member to do so, and that MCA can not afford to have this problem/burden any more.

Having factions in the party will not be positive in gaining confidence from the public, nor would the party gain supports from others within the BN.

He singled out the Ulu Selangor by-election as a good example where Chinese votes obtained by BN was much less than the total MCA's members in the area that indicates MCA members were even voted against the BN.

He praised the little Perlis State MCA for its commendable unity despite little conflicts among its local members there. He said that the local leadership can adopt, and following, closely the party agenda to defuse the sabotage attempts by the various small infighting group.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My view is:-
MCA has been plaguing by infighting. Unity is now the highest priority in MCA's agenda. President Chua, during a speech addressing to the members in Perlis MCA, reminds members to refrain from the continuous infighting, and that the same advice too for other states; has indicated the seriousness of him in the attempt to resolve conflicts within the party, and of the reformation of MCA before the next party election, which is scheduled in early 2011.

The invisible and 'cold infighting' among the three main factions in MCA, namely the Ong Ka Ting's, Ong Tee Keat's, and the Chua Soil Lek's, has been ongoing but mainly under surface.

Who are actually the one to cause the damages, or sabotage the party reformation, and making instability in the party?

It remains to be seen, as each side is seen pointing fingers at each others internally.

Perhaps, MCA needs another round of election to really settle the prevalent issue of who the main ruler of MCA is.

Which one is more logical, legalized or not legalized sports betting?

I refer to the news published in Malaysian Insider today:-
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/soi-lek-gambling-tax-for-anti-gambling-drive/

Well, I support all forms of limited legalized gambling as long as it is transparent in nature, and does not cause nuisance to the public; and that the government or public will benefit from the taxes of the activity.

How can we ban the legalized gambling to achieve the effect of making less people gambling legally and illegally?

Chua's idea of collecting gambling tax for anti-gambling drive is acceptable but controversial as some people would think it's far-fetched.

Because there's no surest way of ridding the gambling activities, and after all, it's actually a part of our social life, so by limiting its activity through legalized or regularized mechanism, the people and the country will gain positively eventually.

With the present non-legalized situation, government receives nothing from the sport gambling activities while the turn-over is estimated worth RM1B for this World Cup alone!

Is the re-appointment of Datuk Edward Khoo as State Chief going to be a 'make-or-break' decision by Dr. Chua for Sabah MCA?

New Party Appointment On April 7?

By Alan Ting / Bernama
http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newspolitic.php?id=487353

The Sabah MCA has been under-performing over the last 11 years under Datuk Edward Khoo's leadership.

If he were to be re-appointed as the State Liaison Chairman again, the outlook for Sabah MCA shall be gloomy unless there shall be dramatic change in the leadership style and transformation.

In addition to that, there should be heavy aids from MCA Central in terms of political supports in lobbying for state's governmental posts and positions in Sabah.

The MCA central also has to finance the costs of operations in the divisions on a regular basis like the UMNO Sabah who has been well look after since its entry into the state some 19 years ago.

Another setback for MCA Sabah so far is that the relationship of Sabah MCA with top leaders of BN components in Sabah has been quietly reported to be not up to good level, and the component parties in Sabah has virtually labelled Sabah MCA as 'irrelevant'.

Will Datuk Edward Khoo changed his style of leadership and administration of the state MCA once re-appointed?

Will the grassroots welcome him as the state liaison chief again after all these years of grievances and 'dis-satisfactory' performance?

In conclusion, the new appointment is significant, and is a 'make-or-break' decision by Dr. Chua for Sabah MCA and the MCA as a whole?

Let's hope that the political maturity eventually rules in the coming MCA's EGM

Let's show our maturity to the world that MCA lives up to the time of change, and put to practice the real politic at works.

Let the Central Delegates speak and decide, and not the other way round.

Lets hope it goes well; and the MCA leaders, at all level, take the heed of PM Najib's National Day message seriously, and do it!

Let the Central delegates be the final sayer in deciding who to lead MCA, and not a small group not elected or endorsed appropriately by the majority members of the party.

MCA can not afford any more mistakes, and let the rights rule over the wrongs, and move on quickly.

Good luck, MCA!

Have we been focusing on unity as claimed by Tee Keat?

After reading the following news clip in TheStar Online today:-
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/1/30/nation/3154003&sec=nation

I wonder if :-
1. The Star's reporter had heard and recorded wrongly, or,
2. Ong TK didn't mean what he said over the topic of party unity.

Every ones in the country knows that MCA has internal problems (between the two top leaders) since the party election on 18th October, 2008.

Even Tan Sri Muhyiddin of Johor UMNO just recently said so in his concern on BN's strength.

It's therefore a complete denial of the truth on the part of Ong TK while Chua Soi Lek openly just said that he had been marginalised and suppressed by the party top officials since elected as Deputy president in last October.

The questions are :-

1.Why do we still have to lie while honesty could be the better way to handle the situation?

2.Why can't we tell the world especially the chinese community about the actual problems, or perhaps simply call for an EGM to re-elect a new leadership immediately instead of the dead- lock which renders the party in limbo?

I honestly can't understand the logic and wisdom behind all these seemingly stupidity "acts" by the top party officials.

One Chinese community leader locally even said to me "Why all these hypocrisies and a waste of time while the country is facing an emergency of financial crisis?" "Does MCA know that the voters have a lot of choices now since march 8, 2008?"

I hope that the leadership can swiftly come out with a positive solution on Unity before it's too late.
